Rooted in service. Growing through community.
Sibol Foundation exists to create opportunity through jiu-jitsu, mentorship, equipment access, scholarships, and community-driven outreach.
Sibol means to sprout, grow, and begin again.
Our work is built around a simple belief: the strongest impact happens when we support what is already taking root inside local communities.
Through partnerships with coaches, academies, athletes, donors, and community leaders, Sibol Foundation helps expand access to training, equipment, mentorship, and opportunity for underserved students and developing jiu-jitsu communities.
Access
Reducing barriers through donated gis, no-gi kits, training support, and scholarship opportunities.
Mentorship
Using jiu-jitsu as a platform to build confidence, discipline, leadership, and belonging.
Partnership
Working alongside local leaders instead of replacing the work already happening on the ground.
Mike Calimbas
Sibol Foundation was founded by Mike Calimbas, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, instructor, photographer, and community organizer based in Houston, Texas.
Through years of involvement in the global jiu-jitsu community, Mike has built relationships with athletes, academies, event organizers, and supporters around the world. His work has helped connect resources, seminars, equipment, and funding to underserved communities, with a special focus on growing opportunities throughout the Philippines.
What began through the outreach efforts of the Groundwork Foundation has continued to evolve through Sibol — a renewed commitment to helping communities grow through service, mentorship, and long-term relationships.
